Weather Tidbits: Winter Safety Tips
This edition of Weather Tidbits will be discussing general winter safety tips when facing cold weather, snow, and ice. Outside, be sure to dress appropriately for the cold. Limit time outdoors if temperatures and wind chill values are very low, and check in on those sensitive to the cold. Also be cautious of ice surfaces. Check the battery in your car and its tire pressure. Make sure to have jumper cables and a spare blanket in the trunk. At home, check your furnace functionality and make sure your chimney is clean, in addition to checking on those monoxide detectors. Also, insulate exposed pipes from extreme cold. Also be mindful of your pets! Bring pets inside or provide outdoor shelter in the case of extreme cold. Provide fresh water and keep salt away from their paws.
