SNOW HILL, Md. – The sale of the historic firehouse

in the downtown section of Snow Hill is imminent, and business owners hope it will bring revitalization.

Diana Nolte calls it an excellent thing. “I think it’s amazing, wonderful. I met the proposed new owner who wants to put an event venue in there.”

And so does Suzanne Timmons, the owner of Sassy Girl Boutique. “Historical building and bring it back to life, and I know the business that will come here will trickle down to all of us who are here, and bring much-needed attention to our town.”

All that’s needed is a couple more steps in the review and approval process. The downtown business community is more than excited about what’s ahead.

Nolte says there is so much to look forward to in the downtown section. “We’ve got new businesses that have been moving into our vacant spaces. We have two potential event venues: between what was River House Bed and Breakfast and now the old firehouse, and working on the outside gathering place on Bank Street between Green and the river to connect downtown with our riverfront.”

This project explores both visual appeal and practicality. Creating a multi-use space that can be used for events, with benches, historical markers, and a performance deck.

Timmons can’t wait for that project to get off the ground.”The promenade is going to be an aesthetically a beautiful place not only for our locals here in the community, but for visitors to come.”

Timmons adds that as a long-time business owner, the future seems bright for Snow Hill.

“I’ve been in business here for 23 years, so I’ve watch things come and go, but I really feel positive for what’s going on right now, it’s going to attract a lot of potential entrepreneurs to come to our area and check things out.”
