Shore to Shore: Where everyone knows your pour, Tides and Vines keeps it local

SNOW HILL, Md. It’s a day of love, so let’s spread some in the latest edition of Shore to Shore. Snow Hill may be known as a small town on the Eastern Shore, but a local wine bar is adding an unexpected flavor to the mix. WMDT spoke with the owners about their small-town business making a big impact.

Chelsea Remines, owner of Tides and Vines, said, “We opened five years ago. We’re born and raised on the Eastern Shore. We didn’t really spend a lot of time in Snow Hill before, but when we had the opportunity to buy the building and be part of downtown, it kind of just snowballed from there.”

What started as a sip-and-shop event has grown into a quirky wine bar, where the spunk never runs dry.

“It’s a weird little place, and that’s what makes it special. We’ve had camels in here for Blessing of the Combines. You never know what you’re going to walk into here,” Remines said.

Yes, you read that right, a camel in the bar, all part of Snow Hill’s biggest traditions.

“There’s a petting zoo across the street, so we like to find an animal and see if they’re willing to bring it in. It’s just something fun, you know? It’s become a tradition,” said Boja.

The animals aren’t the only thing that makes this place stand out. From boutique wines to light bites and local brews, there are endless options.

“We have a ton of craft local beers. There’s a brew pub that features a lot of those local beers as well. We just try to offer something a little different for everybody,” Remines said.

Local resident Kirk Smith sampled the variety.

“This morning we’re doing mimosas, so there you go,” Smith said.

Tides and Vines is pouring big flavors, and it’s clear that it’s not just the grapevines that are connected here.

“We’re really a family here, and the county does a great job of taking input from the town and putting it all together to make this a home for everybody,” Boja said.

It’s clear that in small-town Snow Hill, community is everything.

Ashlea Remines, manager of Tides and Vines, said, “I think it’s just that sense of community and everyone being there for each other. Seeing the growth in the five years we’ve been here is a product of everyone in the town.”

Smith added, “It is just the best little town in Maryland on the Eastern Shore.”

Known for its quiet charm and historic streets, Snow Hill is anything but ordinary, with a wine bar proving that even in the smallest towns, the biggest stories are still being written.

Tides and Vines is always hosting events — it could be karaoke, book club, show-and-tell, you name it. They probably have it.
