ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A West Coast seafood program is expanding to the East Coast to help tackle the Chesapeake Bay’s Blue Catfish Crisis.

Seafood company Real Good Fish announced Monday its Bay2Tray program will come to the East Coast.

The goal: to put invasive Blue Catfish on the menu for K-12 schools.

Blue Catfish are a fast-spreading predator that threatens native species and is destabilizing the Bay’s ecosystem.

Through a partnership with Caroline County Public Schools, Tilghman Island Seafood, the Maryland and Virginia State Departments of Education and the Maryland Department of Agriculture, Real Good Fish hopes to expand access to Blue Catfish products through the program.

That way, kids in local schools can get a nutritious meal while helping restore balance to the Chesapeake Bay.
