Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Dragged by Vehicle in Millsboro
MILLSBORO, Del. – A pedestrian was injured Wednesday night after reportedly being dragged by a vehicle outside AMVETS Post #2 in Millsboro, prompting a second alarm response in the district.
The incident occurred around 8:34 p.m. at the post located at 32592 Long Neck Road, near Lingo Lane and Rudder Road. According to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, emergency crews were dispatched for a high-mechanism traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
Officials said initial reports indicated that an individual was hanging onto a vehicle and was subsequently dragged. Additional responding agencies included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Section, which operates Trooper 2. The aviation unit was ultimately not used.
Fire company units responding included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility. The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with limiting access to the scene.
Emergency crews stabilized the patient before transporting the individual by ground ambulance to Beebe Medical Center. The extent of the injuries was not immediately released.
The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
