Ocean City Chamber of Commerce hosts Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast with NFL Super Bowl Winner

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Chamber of Commerce is hosting a big event with a former player from the National Football League as the guest speaker. Executive Director of the commerce, Amy Thompson, explains to WMDT about the event. “The Ocean City Chamber of Commerce is honored to bring back the mayor’s prayer breakfast with Harry Swayne.”

Swayne talks about his early beginnings. “I came from chaos, grew up in the hood of Philadelphia, and when I got in the house it was hood.”

For the annual prayer breakfast, the chamber welcomed community leaders and elected officials. Former NFL superstar, Harry Swayne, has won 3 Super Bowl rings. He shared to the audience the powerful message of faith, leadership, and perseverance.

“The success, the achievement, the accolades that you get from the National Football League, but at the end of the day, I was really dying from the inside out.”

Thompson, talks about how Swayne is not just a winner on the football field, but a winner of life. “He’s a winner, and we are really excited to hear his story, and he had a very storied career in the NFL, and faith is a big part of his story.”

Swayne tells WMDT, building that relationship with God is what he needed to succeed.

“You think the joy and happiness, that someone who has 3 Super Bowl rings should have. But then walks in my life is Jesus Christ, but what I didn’t know was he was walking in the whole time, I just hadn’t considered it was even him.”

He ended his message saying youth who want a relationship with God should start building towards that now.”Start living knowing that you are heaven’s men and women for a short time, before you go home.”

Swayne was apart of the 2000 Baltimore Ravens team who won the big game.
