Masking Requirements Lifted at TidalHealth Facilities

DELMARVA – TidalHealth announced that it is lifting masking requirements at its hospitals and patient-care facilities following a steady and sustained decline in cases of respiratory illness.

Hospital leaders say the decision was made after closely monitoring respiratory virus trends within TidalHealth facilities and across the region, which have shown consistent improvement over recent weeks. While masking is no longer required in most areas of hospitals and outpatient facilities, individuals may continue to wear masks if they choose.

“We’ve seen a very encouraging decline in Flu A, RSV, and COVID cases across our hospitals,” said Trudy Hall, MD, Chief Medical Officer at TidalHealth. “This allows us to safely ease masking requirements while continuing to prioritize the health and safety of our patients, staff, and visitors.”

TidalHealth emphasized that certain clinical situations may still require masks based on patient needs or care settings, and staff will provide guidance when necessary. Health officials continue to monitor respiratory virus activity and may adjust policies if conditions change.
