Hyperbaric Chamber Testing Causes Minor Explosions in Pocomoke

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – The Pocomoke City Police Department has advised citizens to remain calm in the event of a nearby explosion.

Police say they have received reports of explosions in the area of Market Street and 11th Street. Authorities have spoken with the owners of Newtowne Hyperbarics, located in the aforementioned area, who advised police that they are in the midst of testing their hyperbaric chambers. The testing process includes inflating the chambers until they burst from catastrophic failure.

Police say they have observed the chambers, and determined there is no safety threat to the public at this time. Anyone with questions is asked to contact the department at 410-957-1600.
