Georgetown Man Arrested for Burglarizing Former Workplace

Gary Calloway Jr

GEORGETOWN, Del. – The Delaware State Police (DSP) have arrested a man in connection with a series of burglaries at a used parts business where he was previously employed.

On Friday, Jan. 30, detectives arrested 50-year-old Gary Calloway Jr. of Georgetown on charges of identity theft, seven counts of third degree burglary, seven counts of theft under $1,500, and related charges. He was taken into custody in Ellendale without incident. Calloway was arraigned and released on a $47,100 unsecured bond.

On Monday, Jan. 26, troopers responded to Donovan Salvage Works for a reported theft. Upon speaking with staff, authorities learned the business had begun noticing missing inventory, starting in Dec. 2025. On the date of the report, staff observed footprints in the snow leading away from the business. While following the tracks, employees located some of their missing inventory on a nearby property. The staff also reported seeing Calloway, a former employee who was terminated two years prior, in the area. When Calloway noticed the employees, he reportedly attempted to hide before fleeing to his vehicle.

The DSP Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit assumed the case and learned that between late Nov. 2025 and Jan. of this year, Calloway damaged a lock and committed seven overnight burglaries, stealing an estimated $5,000 worth of inventory.

Detectives also discovered how Calloway often pawned the stolen products and sometimes used a deceased family member’s identification to conceal his identity and complete pawn transactions.
