Electrical Fire Damages Salisbury Home
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Fire Department (SFD) and other local companies responded to a house fire on Sunday afternoon.
At 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 15, crews responded to a single-story home on South Kaywood Drive after a neighbor reported a fire. A total of 50 firefighters battled the blaze for 45 minutes before extinguishing the fire. One occupant of the home was assisted out by SFD crews.
The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $300,000. Two residents were displaced as a result of the fire, and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal has ruled the fire accidental in danger, and the result of an electrical event occurring in the home’s attic. Because of the fire’s location, the home’s smoke alarms did not detect the smoke.
