Dorchester Singer Considered for State Song
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – One Dorchester County singer is heading to Annapolis this week for a shot at a major honor.
Jayla Elise of Cambridge is introducing a bill in the state senate later this week. If passed, the bill would approve her song, called “Heart of Maryland” as the official Maryland state song.
Jayla says being able to get this approved would be huge for the Dorchester County’s music and entertainment scene.
She tells WMDT, “I just hope whatever that this song brings, that sense of unity and inclusivity and togetherness that the lyrics represent. So I hope that that comes to life.”
Jayla’s song “Dorchester Dreams” was approved as the county’s official song last year.
