Del. Dept. of Corrections facilitating peer mentorship through annual program

DELAWARE. – The Delaware Department of Corrections is helping folks take a step in the right direction.

On February 23, the department is hosting a Winter Peer Workshop for those reentering society, and on parole. Participants will hear real experiences from people who have been in the incarceration system and will learn about various resources the Department of Corrections offers.

Senior probation officer, Kevin Cooper said this program has helped people out for the last three years.

“I think it is very valuable to have a person that’s been in someone else’s shoes and has the life learned experience,” Cooper said. “A person is going to be way more receptive to recommendations and guidance, than from someone in a position of authority.”

To register, you can call Cooper at 302-752-3553.
