Colonel Richardson wins first ever Bayside Championship

EASTON, Md. – Wi-Hi and Colonel Richardson competed at Easton High School for the Bayside Conference Championship, with the Tribe looking for their 15th championship and the Colonels looking for their first ever.

Early in the 2nd quarter, Tyson Hayward gets the steal, and he goes for the rack attack, throwing it down with one hand. Wi-Hi was ahead for much of the game, making the marginal plays, diving for loose balls, making free throws, and playing cleanly.

The Colonels quickly responded, as LeShaun Allen gets the steal, flips it to Makiah Batson for the flashy layup. The Colonels were running the floor, breaking into several fast-break transition buckets.

The Tribe played tough basketball throughout, MJ Phillips gets the inbound and goes right at the cup up for 2.

It was a game of back and forth affair, with Robbie Cunningham pulling up for the tray; he had 12 points in the game.

2nd half, Batson with a beautiful bounce pass – LeShaun Allen with the acrobatic finish plus the foul.

But the Tribe still in control, – here Demar Brunson gets to his spot, with a physical drop step, and gets the and-one of his own.

It came down to the 4th quarter, and that’s where Colonels started playing lights out, the steal from Allen to Ja’zir Dickerson with the Big 3. He had a game high, 22 points tonight.

Allen, who had 15 points, with a tough shot – and didn’t get the call but made the bucket that helped the Colonels take the lead late in the 4th and they never looked back.

Colonel Richardson completes history becoming the 2026 Boys Bayside Conference Champions winning 77 to 72 over Wi-Hi.
