Chefs for Habitat Gala coming March 7th
SALISBURY, Md. – Coming March 7th, A Gourmet Gala to raise funds to build homes for hardworking families in need. It’s all part of the Chefs for Habitat event organized by Habitat for Humanity at the Wicomico Civic Center.
The funding will go towards building houses and performing critical home repairs for low-income families.
Marco Smith is on the development committee for Habitat for Humanity and says coming to this event is not only for a good cause, but a great way to be within the community.
“As a real estate professional, I know that safe and affordable housing is hard to come across, and I love that this is what habitat does, and so that’s why this event is one of the biggest events to bring in funds to make this possible.”
Habitat has had a huge impact on the community. Since 1987, they have built 94 homes, and since 2006, they’ve made 147 home repairs. At last year’s charity event, they raised $120,000.
Smith explains what being a part of this event means.
“Being around that are consistently pouring into their community and doing well has always done me well in return, and so it’s always good to get into these type of rooms with people who are willing to lend an extra hand. That’s what being part of a community is at the end of the day.”
