Cambridge PD Investigating Vehicle Thefts; 14-Year-Old Taken into Custody

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) is investigating multiple vehicle thefts they believe are connected.

At 6:40a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, officers responded to the 300 block of West End Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers contacted a victim, who reported their blue 2018 Kia Optima with Maryland registration to be stolen. Police say at the time of the report there are no known suspects. The vehicle was believed to be stolen between 9:00 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 6:00 a.m. on Feb. 10.

A couple of hours later, CPD was contacted by the Easton Police Department (EPD), who reported locating the Kia stolen out of Cambridge in the 700 bock of Dover Street in Easton. EPD also reported they had taken a report from the same Dover Street area of a separate stolen vehicle; a red 2018 Hyundai Tucson with Maryland registration.

At 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, CPD officers responded to the 800 block of Allen Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon officers’ arrival on the scene, they observed two African American males flee from the area on foot. One was described as wearing a gray jacket, and the other was described as being taller. Officers also located a 14-year-old female juvenile inside of the vehicle, which was identified as the stolen Tucson out of Easton. EPD officers arrived on location and took custody of the juvenile.

CPD says they believe the incidents are related to the same offenders. Anyone with information related to these incidents are asked to contact authorities at 410-228-3333.
