Seaford Police Launch Vacation Watch Program

SEAFORD, Del. – The Seaford Police Department has announced the creation of a vacation watch program.

The program allows for residents to sign up their properties to be monitored by police while they are out of town. Residents will get automatic email notifications from officers when the property gets checked. The department says they are excited to offer this new community program for Seaford residents.

Deputy Chief Tyler Justice said that the program was intended to have be a way for officers to get “ahead of any issues” while cruising through neighborhoods. Justice said officers, who must volunteer for the program, are able to submit any observations or concerns as comments easily while on patrol.

“It’s really a program about bringing that extra comfort level to the citizens,” Deputy Chief Tyler Justice said. “Just lets them know that their police department is here to take care of them in a proactive manner, and not just in a in a reactive manner.”

He said he looked forward to seeing how developments in technology could forge creative new ways for law enforcement officers to better serve residents.
