PARSONSBURG, Md. — Fire crews responding to storm-related hazards in Parsonsburg encountered an unexpected obstacle early Tuesday as loose cattle wandered onto the roadway during blizzard conditions.

At approximately 2 a.m., emergency personnel were clearing a large tree that had fallen across a road amid heavy snowfall and strong winds when several cows were discovered outside their enclosure nearby, according to officials.

The incident added to an already demanding night for first responders, who have been working through blowing snow, downed trees and hazardous travel conditions across the area.

No injuries were reported, and crews worked to manage both the roadway obstruction and the loose livestock.

Authorities are urging residents to remain off the roads unless absolutely necessary as severe weather continues to create dangerous driving conditions. Officials emphasized that staying home allows emergency responders to operate more safely and efficiently during the storm.
