UPDATE: Cold Weather Shelter at JMB High Closed after Low Attendance
UPDATE: The emergency shelter previously established at James M. Bennett High School has closed due to low attendance.
Health department officials say only one individual arrived at the school, and was transported to Hope and Life Outreach (HALO). For more details about HALO and their services during the storm, click here.
A warming center will be open Monday, Jan. 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m at the Wicomico County Civic Center, located at 500 Glen Avenue in Salisbury.
SALISBURY, Md. – James M. Bennett High School will be utilized as a cold weather shelter ahead of the winter storm expected to his the East Coast this weekend.
The shelter will be open from 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, through Monday, Jan. 26. Residents will need to bring their own food, beverages, and medications. Pets will be picked up from the school by animal control and taken to another location.
