New Castle Co. PD Launch Statewide Human Trafficking Hotline
DELAWARE – The New Castle County Division of Police has launched Delaware’s first and only Human Trafficking Hotline, with service available statewide and to surrounding areas.
Police say the hotline will provide direct access to law enforcement and victim services for trafficking victims and concerned individuals. It is accessible 24 hours a day, and can be reached at (302) 395-2727. In the case of emergencies, individuals should still call 911.
Additionally, a specialized detective unit has been established to focus on drug and human trafficking investigations throughout New Castle County and surrounding areas.
The term “human trafficking” refers to crimes in which traffickers exploit adults or children for profit by forcing them to perform labor or engage in commercial sex. Any commercial sex act involving a person under 18 is considered a crime, regardless of whether force, fraud, or coercion is involved.
