Museum of Eastern Shore Culture Highlights Mexican Folk Art in New Exhibit

SALISBURY, Md. — The Museum of Eastern Shore Culture is welcoming its first exhibit of 2026.

The exhibit, titled Artesania: Magic and the Folk Arts of Mexico — features curated pieces from the collection of Thomas Leff, along with ceramic sculptures made by artist George Rodriguez. The exhibit explores the cultural heritage of Mexico through both traditional and contemporary artwork.

The installation includes masks, alebrijes, yarn paintings, and more.

“It represents indigenous customs within Mexico — it represents spirituality, celebrations, community. It’s really kind of all over the board because the Mexican culture is so rich and has so many facets to it,” said Curator and Folklife Specialist Raye-Valion Gillette.

The exhibit will be on display until April 3rd.
