DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department (DPD) arrested a Magnolia man after he barricaded himself inside an apartment for over two hours on Tuesday afternoon.

Police initially responded to the unit block of Fairway Lakes Drive to arrest 29-year-old Traymere Stevens in connection with a shooting that took place in June of last year. DPD officers were assisted by members of the US Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

When officers attempted to arrest Stevens, he ran into an apartment in the unit block and refused to exit. DPD’s Special Operations Response and Crisis Negotiations teams were activated and responded to the scene to assist. Police say Stevens surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident at 4:9 p.m.

Officers conducted a subsequent search of the apartment and located 33.5 grams of cocaine, 51.5 grams of crack cocaine, and a silver revolver type handgun.

Stevens was charged with first degree assault, resisting arrest, and related gun and drug charges. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $188,000 cash bail.
