Laurel police arrest man from Haiti for rape

LAUREL, Del. – Laurel Police have arrested a man from Haiti following a juvenile sexual assault investigation.

40-year-old Ricardo Desir was taken into custody without incident Friday.

Laurel Police say they responded to TidalHealth hospital on December 28 in reference to a reported sexual assault involving a 7-year-old female victim.

As a result of the investigation, police determined the assault occurred at the victim’s residence and Desir was identified as the suspect.

Desir was arraigned on the charge of Rape in the Second Degree of a victim less than 12 years of age and issued $60,000 cash bail.

He was then transported to Sussex Correctional Institution.
