Georgetown Brothers Arrested After Threatening Cousin with Gun
GEORGETOWN, Del. – The Georgetown Police Department has arrested two men after police say they got into a physical altercation with their cousin.
On Dec. 30, police arrested 22-year-old Andre Singletary and 20-year-old Xavier Singletary, both of Georgetown, after responding to the 900 building of the Georgetown Apartments Complex. They are charged with aggravated menacing, terroristic threatening, third degree assault, and related crimes.
Police were dispatched to the apartment complex at 5:49 p.m. in reference to a reported firearm-related incident. Upon arrival on the scene, police contacted a victim, who advised officers he was the cousin of the Singletary brothers. During a verbal dispute, the cousin said that the brothers displayed two handguns and threatened him before physically forcing him out of the apartment.
Another family member arrived to the scene to pickup the cousin. At which point, a physical altercation broke out between the Singletary brothers and the other family member, with one brother striking them in the mouth. Officers also determined that a juvenile child, related to one of the suspects, was present inside the residence at the time of the incident.
A search warrant was subsequently obtained for the residence, and the aforementioned handguns were recovered during the execution of the warrant.
Andre Singletary was released on a $6,100 unsecured bond, and Xavier Singletary was released on a $6,600 unsecured bond. Both defendants were ordered to have no contact with the adult victims, and no unlawful contact with the juvenile victim.
