Dorchester Co. Looking for Feedback for Strategic Plan

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Throughout the week, Dorchester County Council members have been listening to people in communities from East New Market to Cambridge to Church Creek.

It’s all part of the county’s Strategic Plan.

County Council Member, Mike Detmer tells WMDT, “You know, you can either be reactive and things happen to you or you can be proactive and have a chance at setting what happens. And we’re looking to be proactive and have some self-determination in the future.”

Work on the strategic plan started this month, so the county is still in the beginning stages.

And consultants are working with the county and understanding what makes Dorchester tick for the Strategic Plan.

“We’re really trying to understand what makes Dorchester County great. What can we learn from what has happened, both good and bad? What do we compare ourselves to in Dorchester County? And what’s most important as we move forward?” says consultant, Connie Casson.

Turnout in communities like East New Market and Cambridge have been great so far, and that bodes well for the early stages of the plan.

Especially with the feedback they’ve received.

“The theme that I’ve seen is people being happy for the chance to participate and let their voice be heard about what they see and what they want to see,” says Detmer.
