Discover Delmarva Arts: Jewelry pieces with a purpose

SALISBURY, Md. – Montse Tlalolini doesn’t choose the gemstones she uses for the pieces of jewelry she creates. Instead, she’s drawn to them.

Montse has been creating jewelry ever since she was in high school. She said there’s meaning behind each little stone she strings on a necklace, a bracelet, or a pair of earrings.

“I really, really care about the properties of the gemstones,” Montse said. “Like, healing energy– so creating something that is beyond aesthetics– it can provide some type of healing, either emotional or spiritual, to a person that’s wearing it.”

So, if you ever find yourself inside of Montse’s shop inside of the Downtown Salisbury University building, and you’re browsing one of her hundreds of pieces of jewelry and if you find one you really like, look closely at it and think to yourself, what does this piece mean to me?

“You get to buy something that’s aesthetically nice, but also it has a meaning, and you can set with your energy or intention, either for yourself, or as a gift,” Montse said.
