Delaware school district elections around the corner

DELAWARE. – It’s the time of year to run for a seat on school boards in Delaware. Individuals have until March 6th to file with the Delaware Board of Elections.

According to First State Educate, there are at least 2 seats open in every district, except for Indian River. FSE is looking to help candidates with their own Delaware School Board Index, where potential candidates or Delawareans can find information about the districts, finances, and the strategic plan.

Executive Director of FSE, Julia Keleher, explains what she thinks makes the perfect candidate.

“The ideal candidate is someone who cares about public education, who is willing to put in the work, who understands the responsibility and enormity of the decision-making that is in front of them. That those board decisions impact children’s future, the community, and the overall economic of the state. So you need to be curious, thoughtful, and a good listener.”
