Crabcake Factory Bayside Closed Indefinitely Following Car Crash
FENWICK ISLAND, Del. – Crabcake Factory Bayside is closed indefinitely following a car crash on Sunday that wrecked the front of the family-owned restaurant.
Around 1:33 p.m. on Jan. 4, crews from the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to the restaurant located on Lighthouse Road. Upon arrival on the scene, they confirmed that a car had entered the building, causing heavy damage. All occupants of the car and the restaurant were able to self-extricate.
Crews worked to evaluate patients, as well as secure gas, electric, and power to the structure. They remained on scene until the tow truck arrived and removed the vehicle to ensure no other hazards were present.
In a post to social media, the business thanked the community for their outpouring of support following the accident. They also shared that one employee was recovering from minor injuries from the crash.
“The Mushrush Family would like thank your for all the calls, messages & kind words,” they wrote, being sure to add that there were no hard feelings. “The elderly driver & wife are rattled but fine. It was an accident. Just a family coming to lunch at their favorite place.”
In response, fellow Fenwick Island restaurant, Harpoon Hanna’s, is banding together this Sunday, Jan. 11, to donate 20 percent of proceeds to Crabcake Factory Bayside’s staff. For more information about the fundraiser, click here.
