Salisbury, Md. – With this week’s snow storm underway, there are several cold shelters and warming centers in place for freezing or below freezing temperatures for vulnerable residents.
Caroline County Warming Stations:
- Warming stations available during week days at Caroline County libraries
- Central Branch in Denton from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Federalsburg Branch from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Greensboro Branch from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

- Dorchester Temporary Shelter: Located at 200 Washington St., Cambridge. Residents can call 443-477-2219 for information. The shelter will be open 24 hours a day from Saturday through Tuesday.
- Daytime Warming Shelters: The county’s public library branches operate as daytime warming shelters during each library’s normal business hours.
- The Cambridge Branch is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and is closed Sunday.
- The Hurlock Branch is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

- Open daily, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., until Wednesday, Jan. 28. No pets are allowed.
- In the event of a prolonged power outage, the Somerset County Health Department says fire departments in the local community will open as warming centers. Please call 911 or 410-651-0707 if transportation is needed.

- Ocean City Cold Weather Shelter: The far end of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at 10301 Coastal Hwy, Ocean City. There will be a ramp leading up to the door.
- Officials ask residents call 443-880-5060 to register and find current availability.
- Those who have not been to the shelter yet this season, must provide their full legal name and date of birth for registration.
- Check-in time to arrive at the shelter on the nights they are open is 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. After 7 p.m., residents must contact the Ocean City Police Department for a police escort to the shelter.

Accomack County: The following shelters are opened on an “as-needed” basis for emergencies and each comes with its own restrictions including things to bring to be self-sustaining for three days such as identification, nonperishable food, bedding and personal hygiene products. Residents are encouraged to check the county’s Emergency Department website to check the general guidelines.
