Cambridge PD Investigating Attempted Armed Carjacking

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department is looking for two suspects following an attempted carjacking that took place Monday night.

At 9:42 p.m. on Jan. 19, officers responded to the Burger King located in the 2700 block of Ocean Gateway following a report of a possible carjacking. Upon arrival on the scene, they contacted a victim who reported that two suspects approached their vehicle in the parking lot by the main entry door. One suspect knocked on the victim’s car window and asked for change before demanding they exit the vehicle. One suspect proceeded to open the car door, while the other pulled out a handgun and attempted to rack the slide. The victim quickly shut the door, rolled up the windows, and locked the vehicle.

The suspects then fled towards the back of Burger King and possibly towards the direction of Royal Farms. They are described as African American males around 20-years-old. They were both wearing black clothing and face masks at the time of the incident. The armed suspect was also wearing white gloves.

Officers spoke with Burger King employees who reported that prior to the attempted carjacking, a white SUV style vehicle came into the drive-thru lane without ordering any items. Two African American male subjects then exited the vehicle, and walked around the back of Burger King before entering the restroom area.

Officers viewed the restaurant’s camera footage, which showed that the white SUV involved is possibly a Volkswagen, with a full sunroof and a spare tire on rear driver side of the vehicle.

Anyone with relevant information about this incident is asked to contact authorities at 410-228-3333.
