Cambridge Man Arrested on Multiple Warrants after Traffic Stop

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) has arrested a man with multiple active warrants after conducting a traffic stop on Wednesday night.

Police have arrested 36-year-old Kevmonta Lamar Raykee Stanley of Cambridge on charges of obstructing and hindering and a citation for consuming an alcoholic beverage inside the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. He was also arrested in connection with two active warrants out of CPD, and one out of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) for failure to appear in court for child support in Oct. 2025.

On Jan. 14 at 9:15 p.m., detectives with the Proactive Community Engagement Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Cedar Street for an equipment violation. A Dorchester County K9 Unit also responded to conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. During the stop, a rear passenger, later identified as Stanley, started to consume an alcoholic beverage inside of the vehicle. When Stanley was asked to exit the vehicle and identify himself, he refused. He was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.

Stanley was transported to CPD for processing, where he was identified and police learned of his outstanding warrants. Stanley was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond for the earlier CPD warrant, and posted $3,000 unsecured bond for the new charges and the more recent CPD warrant. Stanley will be turned over to SCSO at a later date in reference to the Somerset County warrant.

Stanley’s first warrant out of Cambridge was in reference to a report of malicious destruction of property on Nov. 24, 2025.

Stanley’s second warrant out of Cambridge was in reference to an assault case from several years ago. On Jul. 29, 2022, officers responded to the 800 block of Center Street for a welfare check called in by a female victim’s mother. Upon arrival on the scene, officers contacted the victim, who had bruising and swelling to her facial area. Her left eye was reportedly almost swollen shut, and was purple and reddish in color. She had more abrasions under her right eye and on her lips. The victim reported that she and Stanley got into an argument when Stanley grabbed her by the hair and struck her face multiple times with a closed fist. A witness told officers that they had observed Stanley kicking and stomping the victim while she was on the ground.

Officers applied for charges with the Court Commissioner who issued an arrest warrant at that time. In this case, Stanley was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
