SALISBURY, Md. – Now that the new year has started, here’s a few things going on that you may want to add to your calendar!

The America250 Lecture Series begins this Sunday, Jan. 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Hill Mansion! This American Semi-quin-centennial monthly lecture series takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Presented with the D-A-R, each talk highlights early American history through museum collections. The series begins with the history of the D-A-R Museum at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. These events are free and open to all ages. It will be a different program every month, with each lecture lasting 30 to 60 minutes. Come out and join us!

Not necessarily an event, but also of note is The Salisbury Prize Art contest is open now through Jan. 30. Open to Maryland organizations and residents aged 18 years and older. Artists, architects, engineers, and creative teams can apply for a $10,000 award plus up to $5,000 in material reimbursements. Installation is planned for Jun. 2026, at the kiosk area in front of the Salisbury-Wicomico Government Office Building.

The City would like to thank everyone for coming out and helping make 2025 so great! Third Fridays will start back up in April when it should be a little warmer, and continue to bring out more than two thousand people each month. Other events like the Maryland Folk Festival and New Years Eve Celebrations at both the Zoo and Downtown were also great successes and are planned to continue in 2026.

And it’s always a helpful reminder—come on out downtown for a bite to eat and to do a little shopping—parking is FREE on weekends and every day after 4:00 p.m.
