Adopt A Block Hosts Pop-Up Food Drive
SALISBURY, Md. — Adopt A Block hosted a pop-up free food market on Friday. Organizers say supplies ran out just 30 minutes into the drive and enough food to feed over 150 people was given out.
The nonprofit hosts pop up food markets every other Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — or until supplies lasts. Pantry Operations Manager Ginny Poorman says their mission is to support local families facing food insecurity.
“Our mission is ‘find a need, fill it, find a heart, heal it,’ and that’s just such a broad scope of things — so we really just try and focus on the person as a whole. We try and have different services in here for people, we have opiate prevention, we have Shore Legal that comes in here, we have Recovery Resource Center, so we really try and be a hub to help the whole need and not just the food piece,” Poorman said.
