UPDATE: Sexual Charges Against Stephen Decatur Basketball Coach Dropped
UPDATE: The State has decided not to prosecute the sexual charges levied against Bryon Johnson, long-time basketball coach at Stephen Decatur High School, earlier this month.
WMDT spoke with Johnson following the announcement, and he declined to comment.
In a statement to WMDT, the State’s Attorney for Worcester County said the following:
“After Mr. Johnson’s arrest, and as a part of their ongoing investigation, police uncovered reliable digital forensic evidence contradicting witness accounts, leaving the State with insufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution. Accordingly, and consistent with our ethical obligations, the State entered a nolle prosequi on all criminal charges against Mr. Johnson this morning. The State will not be prosecuting this matter.”
WMDT will have more on this story tonight, at 5:30p and 6:00p.
