Easton House Fire Deemed Total Loss; Fire Marshals Investigating
EASTON, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that destroyed a home on Saturday evening.
At 7:28 p.m. on Jan. 24, crews from the Easton Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD) and other local companies responded to a residential house fire on Country Way Lane. The fire was reportedly discovered by a neighbor, who successfully alerted the family inside, allowing them to escape. Smoke alarms were also present and activated on the property.
A total of 67 firefighters battled the blaze for two hours. The fire originated within the attached garage before extending into the interior of the dwelling, causing significant damage throughout. The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be $650,000.
Officials say the dwelling is considered to be a total loss. The affected family is being assisted by family and friends.
