Worcester County Superintendent visits local McDonald’s
WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – The Superintendent of Public Schools is working to make stronger community connections in the county.
Dr. Annette Wallace is doing it by sharing some quality time with residents. She calls it the Diet Coke with Supt series, and it occurs at the local McDonald’s.
She says it’s a way to be transparent with the community. “And so it was important to me to part of my identity is that I really like Diet Coke from McDonald’s.”
On Wednesday, The Diet Coke with the Superintendent series continued at Snow Hill McDonald’s. It was an opportunity to chat, share, and connect with school communities.
Dr. Wallace claims her first 125 days as Superintendent hasn’t been easy. She uses avenues to meet with local community members to add more perspective to her goals.
“Basically during these first couple of months, I am taking the opportunity to listen whenever I can,” said Dr. Wallace. “And I think I bring a unique perspective to the community, and as someone who has already been here for 22 years.”
She believes it offers her another outlet to learn from others as well.
“But that doesn’t mean I don’t have plenty of things to learn, which is why opportunities are so important, because I can get in a different environment,” said Dr. Wallace.
Dr. Wallace tells WMDT that they will continue to strive for high level performance.
“Continue to be the highest performing school district in the state, and continue our goal that we need our children to be reading on grade level by grade 3.”
Worcester County Public Schools will continue these events in Spring of 2026.
