Upgrades Coming to Wicomico Co. Truck Weigh Station

DELMAR, Md. – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is set to begin improvements on the truck weigh and inspection station on Route 13 in Wicomico County.

The upgrades are part of a $5.2 million project to modernize the station, located between Mallard Drive and Winner Boulevard. Work is expected to begin this month and be completed by next summer, weather permitting.

Officials say upgrades at the scale facility will include new truck height detectors, an LED signal display, and replacement of the current scale with a modern deep pit scale and computer system. Improvements will also be made to parking, traffic barriers, cameras, signage, and structures on the property.

The weigh station is one of two remaining scale houses constructed in 1955. It has been operated by the Maryland State Police since 1967.
