Two-Vehicle Accident Kills One in Hartly; DSP Investigating

Fatal Crash

HARTLY, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that killed a 77-year-old man of Dover on Wednesday morning.

Around 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 10, police say a Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Judith Road, towards a stop sign, while a Ford Focus was simultaneously traveling southbound on Hartly Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda pulled away from the stop sign, into the path of the Ford. The Ford subsequently struck the driver’s side of the Honda.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The driver of the Ford, an 18-year-old woman from Hartly, was treated at the scene but refused transport to the hospital.

The Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact Master Corporal J.
