TidalHealth Collects for Brooke’s Toy Closet
SALISBURY, Md. — The TidalHealth Junior Auxiliary Board hosted a holiday shopping event in Downtown Salisbury on Tuesday, featuring appearances from the Grinch, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and numerous local vendors. Organizers said their goal was to support local businesses and TidalHealth’s charitable endeavors.
Founded in 1924, TidalHealth’s Junior Auxiliary Board continues to support the community and the hospital system’s gift shop. This is the first year the board has invited vendors to its annual holiday event.
“This year, we expanded the event to include a vendor night so we could support local vendors in our community, as well as give parents a chance to shop for crafts, see the Grinch, and visit Mr. and Mrs. Claus,” said TidalHealth Junior Board member Bridget Desaulniers.
The board hosted several local vendors offering a variety of products, from hand drawings to holiday attire.
“We have everything from pictures, hand drawings, and sports memorabilia, to skincare products, jewelry, and a live singer,” said TidalHealth Junior Board member Brooklynne Davis.
“We also had the Grinch here, as well as an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. There are about 14 vendors, all from Salisbury. They’re all local.”
TidalHealth also hosted a toy drive to support Brooke’s Toy Closet, a program that provides toys for pediatric patients at TidalHealth hospitals in Salisbury and Seaford. Attendees who brought a toy for the closet were entered into a raffle to win a basket of holiday attire.
“Brooke’s Toy Closet ensures that every child visiting TidalHealth’s emergency departments can receive a toy if they’re having a scary time. It’s all in honor of Brooke Mumford,” Desauliners said.
