(EASTON, Md) – There’s certainly no shortage of trees to look at at the Tidewater Inn. They’re playing host to the 40th annual Festival of Trees to benefit Talbot Hospice; and they’re purchased by those throughout the community.

Dana McGrath with Friends of Talbot Hospice says, “It is unreal. All the support that we get from our local, individuals, companies, non-profits. There are a lot of, of various sponsors.”

The Festival of Trees was originally started in 1985/. In the 40 years since, they’ve raised over four million dollars.

With that money going to improving end-of-life care.

“”It’s wonderful. It’s very beautiful to see the commitment from people who are willing to help support a program that help others in their end of life journey,” says festival Co-Chairwoman, Karla Wieland-Cherry.

Over the decades, the money amassed through sponsors of the trees has done great work for those at the end of their lives. Doing it without putting a strain on families.

Karla tells WMDT, “Hospice doesn’t typically charge as home care would normally charge. If you’re unable to pay, that’s not a burden that will place upon someone. facing that…”

If you’re interested in seeing the trees, the Festival is running through Tuesday December 2nd, 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.

In the event you can’t make it but want to donate, you can do that through the festival website.
