Salisbury Airport receives a $95,000 Federal grant
SALISBURY, Md. — Wicomico County has received a 95-thousand dollar federal grant for work at the Salisbury Airport.
The funding will pay for phase 1 of design to rehabilitate the runway. 12-hundred feet of the existing pavement on runway 14/32 is due for an upgrade.
County Executive Julie Giordano said the grant helps maintain the infrastructure and safety of the airport keeping things at the required standards.
“We know the economic engine that the airport is. So any time we have both of those partners, you know, willing to help us out is always a great thing so, you know, some see it projects with the airport doing the expansion of the parking lot and, a couple of buildings and things like that out there.” said Giordano.
Giordano said that they are always looking for different funding sources build up the county adding that she’s so grateful for the grant.
There is no set timeline for the design process.
