Residents against banning short-term rentals starting a petition

 

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Some controversy in Ocean City surrounding short-term rentals. Residents reacting to the extension of the moratorium on STRs in the R1 and MH housing districts.

The town extended it until January 2027, the moratorium was originally set to end at the top of the new year. Residents against the banning of short-term rentals feel the move was targeted and unfair.

Ocean City residents voted on the matter back in July, with 834 residents being against the bans versus 800 who were for the restrictions.

One resident, Terry Miller – says they will continue to fight on the issue.

“Once people start stealing rights, they don’t stop,” said Miller. “These are our signing locations, there are times on there, our website OCMDpropertyrights.org, or you can call us at 443-366-1657. As I said we only have until January 20th 10 a.m. to get these signatures, please come out and support us.”

Signing locations include BluVista Vacations at 11911 Coastal Highway. It will be seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Keller Williams is opened on 6200 Coastal Highway Ste. 101. It will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Miller is asking residents to sign their petition – donate – and spread the word.
