Pocomoke City Government discusses on releasing closed session meetings

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – Debate at a recent Pocomoke City Council meeting. It stems over releasing a September closed-session minutes. This comes after Worcester County Commissioner Caryn Abbott requested both open and closed session minutes being released to the public.

Council members expressed mixed feelings. Some questioned why these minutes should be opened to the public, and others included District 1 Council member, Scott Holland, who expresses that the city has nothing to hide. He wants the meetings to be as transparent as possible for the community.

“I’m in favor of having as many open session council sessions we can have. Personally if it doesn’t have to do with employee discipline or how much someone is paid. I think this should have been an open session discussion from the get go.”

The council voted on a motion “to approve the release of the closed session minutes from the September 15th meeting that Commissioner Abbott requested.

The vote was recorded as opposed 3-2 with Councilmen Holland and Marshall in favor
