Philly Man with Machete Arrested after Traffic Stop in Millsboro
MILLSBORO, Del. – The Delaware State Police have arrested a man from Philadelphia for drug, weapon, and driving under the influence offenses following a traffic stop on Sunday.
At 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 14, a trooper conducted a traffic stop on a gray Dodge Charger after observing it traveling on Centerview Drive with a headlight out. The trooper spoke with the driver, identified as 61-year-old Jose Morales-Colon, and noticed him exhibiting multiple signs of impairment. Police also reported smelling the odor of marijuana coming from the car.
After conducting Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, police took Morales-Colon into custody without incident.
During a search of the car, troopers found the following items:
- Approximately 18.77 grams of cocaine
- Approximately .72 grams of marijuana
- .5 dosage units of suspected oxycodone
- Large, serrated machete concealed in the rear passenger seat
- $8,135 in suspected drug proceeds
Morales-Colon was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a tier two substance with intent to deliver, and other related drug and traffic charges. He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $51,503 cash bond.
