MD Dept. of Nat. Resources Searching for Missing Waterman Near Deal Island

SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is searching for a missing commercial waterman in the area of Deal Island.

Authorities say 65-year-old Gregg Allan Thomas of Princess Anne was reported overdue on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 1. His boat was discovered a short time later in the area of Holland Strait, unoccupied and in gear.

Officers have been conducting surface and sonar search operations, but efforts have been paused due to inclement weather. Police say the search will resume at first light tomorrow.

The incident is being jointly investigated by Natural Resources Police and the U.S. Coast Guard.
