Maryland Rural Health Association Seeks Input
MARYLAND. — The Maryland Rural Health Association has launched a new initiative.
The “Rural Maryland Backroads Project” seeks to amplify the voices of rural communities in Maryland and address disparities in access to health care and transportation. The association is asking people to submit their experiences with obtaining health care while living in rural areas.
Jonathan Dayton, CEO and executive director of the Maryland Rural Health Association, said the goal is to highlight the diversity, resilience, and spirit of rural Maryland.
“Really, what this project is, is a collection of stories—folks’ experiences living in rural communities and what their challenges are. It doesn’t have to be healthcare-related, but we want to hear about people’s challenges. We really want this to be a combination of stories ready to go by February. February is a timeframe when we hit Capitol Hill and are in the middle of the Maryland General Assembly session, so we want to release this during the most important time.”
