Fruitland PD to host annual community gift giveaway

FRUITLAND, Md. – The Fruitland Police Department is gearing up for the agency’s annual toy giveaway.

Every year, Santa, Fruitland Fire and Police drive throughout the community, handing out presents to kids who’ve made the nice list this year.

All of the toys are donated, and the group is handing out just over 300 gifts this year. The entire squad looks forward to this family fun event, and they hope to see a lot of kids and all of their bright faces.

“We’ll get the lights and sirens going and when you start hearing lights and sirens nearby in your neighborhood, that means that we’re close and we’re probably going to be heading in your direction,” Sgt Mills said. “Just make sure that the kids are dressed warm and they got their slippers on, and that way they can run out and grab what they want.”

Santa and his men will be up bright and early this Saturday. Make sure to be on the lookout for him if you live in Fruitland– he’ll be hitting the road by 9 a.m.
