Fire Demolishes Mobile Home in Millsboro; Second Case in One Weekend
MILLSBORO, Del. – Firefighters responded to a heavily involved fire that destroyed a mobile home on Sunday morning.
At 5:51 a.m. on Nov. 30, crews from the Lewes Fire Department, as well as the Indian River and Millsboro volunteer fire companies, responded to a trailer fire in the Pot Nets Creekside development. The fire was initially reported to be a manufactured home fire with the occupants attempting to put the fire out. Crews from the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics also responded.
Emergency crews began work by conducting an initial 360 degree exterior evaluation, which determined that approximately 70% structure was involved with fire. Crews also identified an active gas leak, and ensured evacuation of the home’s occupants. One burn injury was reported in connection with the fire.
The residential occupants were present at the time of the fire, and reported that it may have started with a heater before spreading into a bedroom.
The property’s utility service providers, Long Neck Water and Delaware Electric Cooperative, were also alerted.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene access in coordination with Pot Nets Security.
The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating. This is the second trailer fire to occur in Millsboro this weekend.
