Elderly Man Assaulted During Home Invasion; DSP Investigating
SEAFORD, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion that left an elderly man with minor injuries on Tuesday evening.
Police responded to a residence in the 25000 block of Rocky Road on Wednesday, Dec. 17, for a welfare check of the homeowner, after a concerned relative contacted police.
Troopers arrived and spoke with a 74-year-old male resident who reported that he had been robbed the previous evening. Police say the suspected robber had been at the residence earlier in the day, before returning with three additional male subjects around 6:00 p.m. The four suspects then forced their way into the residence, with one displaying a firearm.
Once inside, the suspects demanded money and other personal items from the victim. During the incident, one of the suspects struck the victim on the top of the head before fleeing the residence on foot.
Police say the suspects are described as four black males. Three of the suspects were wearing masks at the time of the robbery. No additional suspect description is available at this time.
Authorities continue to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity, or has information relevant to the case to contact Detective M.
