Dover Man Arrested for Shooting Incident; One More Sought

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a shooting that injured one on Sunday night.

At 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 21, police responded to a unit block on Stevenson Drive following a report of shots-fired. Officers arrived on the scene to find evidence that a shooting had occurred, but found no suspects or victims at the time.

The shooting victim, a 39-year-old male of Dover, arrived at Bayhealth Kent Campus later with a gunshot wound to his lower body. He refused to provide a statement to police. Authorities learned a vehicle was struck by gunfire and damaged during this incident.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the victim had just exited his vehicle when he was shot by an unknown suspect. Police determined that a second suspect, later identified as 46-year-old David Robinson of Dover, also exited the vehicle the victim was in, and fired a a handgun during this incident. Robinson was later taken into custody in the 900 block of Carvel Drive. 

Officers also recovered an RG14 .22 Caliber revolver in the 100 block of Willis Road that is believed to be connected with this incident.

Robinson was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $45,100 cash bail on two counts of reckless endangerment and related gun charges.
