Discover Delmarva Arts: Corbin Studio & Gallery Christmas Market

CRISFIELD, Md. — This holiday season, the Corbin Studio and Gallery in Crisfield, Md., is not only spreading the cheer but also celebrating and supporting local artists. Dozens of scenes are on display, including Christmas tree farms, pets snuggled under the tree, and snow-covered beaches. Their holiday market offers even more, from handmade ornaments and wreaths to charcuterie boards, jewelry, and hand-painted glasses.

“We’ve got more than 20 vendors that came in and we’ve got such an array of different types of art,” Brian Sutherland, board chairman of the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District, said.

“One thing that’s thriving in Crisfield is the arts. And we’ve been getting a lot of people from other parts of the Eastern Shore. A lot of people come in from the East Coast on their boats, and they come right into the galleries, and we’re getting to be known as an artsy town. This [Corbin Studio & Gallery] is really the hub of the arts and entertainment district in Crisfield.”

Photographer Eric Long is happy to help spread the holiday cheer and his love for the arts. “The arts are something that you build upon. We’re trying to rebuild the city here and it’s not just about crabs, but the arts play an important role in that – whether it be theater, photography, or painting.”

Painter Jackie Miller, whose work is on display at the holiday exhibit, says the winter and holiday season is one of her favorite times of year to paint. “If it snows after Christmas, I’m sitting right there, painting. It’s very peaceful and calming.”
